Fred Longworth High School is a high performing secondary school located in Tyldesley which is oversubscribed and pupil places are much sought after. The Senior Leadership Team are forward thinking and engaged Stratus9 as their delivery partner to develop immediate and long-term strategies for the school campus.
Stratus9 developed a Property Strategy for Fred Longworth High School which identified urgent works along with plans to meet the future needs of the school in the medium and long term. Through this Stratus9 identified significant works were required to the school roofs with incessant water ingress wreaking havoc within the school’s facilities.
At the end of its serviceable life and in a desperate state of repair, the roof required wholesale replacement. If immediate action was not taken, water ingress would continue to damage the building fabric and key teaching support equipment, posing a high risk to pupils and staff from fabric failure and interruptions to key support facilities.
Stratus9 developed detailed proposals to undertake the necessary roofing works and successfully secured £660,000 in grant funding from the Condition Improvement Fund via the Education and Skills Funding Agency.
Stratus9 delivered a complete roof refurbishment project, from project inception, all the way through the funding process to project completion including procurement. Not only do the schools’ staff and pupils benefit from a safe, dry and warm environment in which to teach and learn, but the reduced maintenance cost has, and will, continue to save thousands that the school can channel into their pupil’s education.
